Men’s Group

Led by Brittany Boden, LCSW

This group is for men who want to progress with their goals, increase resiliency, find deeper meaning and get help with their core struggles. Primarily a process group, we will also build skills for regular mindfulness practice, psychoeducation in Polyvagal Theory, identifying triggers, self-regulation, and relationship/impact awareness.

This group is LGBTQIA+ affirming. It is, however, limited to cisgender men in order to provide an opportunity for men who were raised as boys to reconcile the cultural impact of being a boy with who they are today. To build a healthy collective, this group welcomes men from diverse racial, ethnic, cultural and religious/spiritual/nonreligious backgrounds.

It is preferred that men in this group be in current or recent individual or couple therapy in order to enhance progress.

Men in recovery are welcome.

“Men are not raised to be intimate, they’re raised to be competitive performers. Traditional socialization teaches young boys to filter their sense of self-worth through performance. The paradox for boys is that in order to be worthy of connection they must prove themselves invulnerable, button down warriors in the world’s emotional marketplace. In the world of boys and men, you’re either a winner or a loser, one up or one down, in control or controlled, man enough or a girl. Where in this set up is the capacity for love?”
