Brittany Boden, LCSW

Most people come to therapy not because something is “wrong” with them, but because something inside them has become stuck, overwhelmed, or exhausted.

Our culture often suggests that happiness comes from getting things right—accomplishments, relationships, success, or appearance. Yet even when those pieces are in place, many people still feel anxious, disconnected, or quietly dissatisfied.

I believe emotional health is not a permanent state we arrive at, but an ongoing, living process. At different points in life, parts of us may slow down, shut down, or adapt in ways that once made sense but no longer serve us. Psychotherapy offers a space to understand these patterns with honesty and compassion, and to support growth beginning again.

My Approach

I work with adults in individual, couples, and group psychotherapy, as well as assessments, in private practice. I truly enjoy this work and have always been drawn to the wisdom in other people’s stories. I consider it a privilege to be invited into the emotional lives of my clients.

I value connection, collaboration, and depth in the therapeutic relationship, and I am willing to work as hard as my clients want to. My style is direct and honest, but warm. I aim to create a space that feels emotionally safe while also supporting clarity, accountability, and meaningful change.

Clients often seek me out when they are navigating relationship distress, emotional disconnection, long-standing patterns that persist despite insight, professional pressure or burnout, addiction or recovery, or the lasting effects of trauma, neglect, or difficult early experiences. Many of my clients are thoughtful, capable people who function well externally while struggling internally. I work with clients across a wide range of identities, including LGBTQ+ and BIPOC individuals, and I strive to offer a therapeutic relationship that is thoughtful, respectful, and responsive to each person’s lived experience.

My clinical foundation is in traditional psychodynamic psychotherapy, which informs my focus on attachment, emotional development, and the ways early experiences continue to shape present-day relationships and inner life. I integrate this depth-oriented approach with evidence-based modalities tailored to each client’s needs.

Areas of Specialization

I specialize in long-term psychotherapy and work especially well with professionals, men, survivors of abuse and neglect, and individuals with developmental trauma. I am certified in Emotionally Focused Therapy across modalities, including couples (EFT), individuals (EFIT), and families (EFFT), and I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I also have specialty training in addiction and recovery, including work with medical professionals.

About Me

Becoming a psychotherapist was always my calling, though my path here was not a straight line. Before entering the field, I worked in nonprofit and for-profit settings, personnel management, and internet technology—experiences that broadened my understanding of people, systems, and the pressures of modern life.

I earned my undergraduate degree in Philosophy and Religious Studies, with concentrations in Women’s Studies and Peace and Conflict Studies, from Guilford College in North Carolina. I later received my Master’s in Clinical Social Work from Loyola University Chicago and have been practicing in Atlanta since 2005.

This group is LGBTQIA+ affirming, welcomes men from diverse backgrounds, and is open to men in recovery. Members are encouraged to be in current or recent individual or couples therapy.
