Lisa Angert Morris, MS, LPC, CGP, CPCS

With nearly four decades in the mental health field, I bring a depth of experience that spans private practice, nonprofit leadership, clinical supervision, and national professional service.

Since 1996, I have been a partner at Metropolitan Psychotherapy Associates. For more than 25 years, I also served in numerous leadership and clinical roles at Metropolitan Counseling Services until its closure in 2021—work that continues to shape my commitment to accessible, community-based mental health care.

I believe psychotherapy is both an art and a science. Each person enters therapy with a unique history of strengths, adaptations, and relational patterns. My work centers on helping clients understand those patterns with curiosity and compassion while developing the insight and skills needed for meaningful, sustainable change.

I work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, families, and groups. Clients often seek me out when navigating depression, anxiety, relational distress, parenting challenges, divorce transitions, grief and loss, workplace stress, or the long-term effects of trauma. I value depth, clarity, and collaboration in the therapeutic process and aim to create a space that is steady, thoughtful, and responsive to each stage of life.

Areas of Specialization

Trauma & Complex PTSD
I specialize in working with trauma survivors across the lifespan, including individuals experiencing complex PTSD, chronic traumatization, attachment-related difficulties, and dissociative disorders.

Journalism & Media Professionals
I have experience in supporting journalists and media professionals exposed to traumatic material. I have received training from the Global Center for Journalism and Trauma (GCJT) on the professional culture and occupational challenges of journalists. The GCJT is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to informed, innovative, and ethical news reporting on violence, crisis, and tragedy, and to the psychological resilience of journalists worldwide. In addition, I have received training from the Freedom of the Press Foundation on best practices for digital security when using telehealth technology.

Telehealth
In addition to being able to provide telehealth and telehealth supervision services in Georgia, I am a registered telehealth provider in Florida and South Carolina. My telehealth practice is tailored to ensure continuity of care, privacy, and engagement, particularly for clients who may have scheduling or geographic limitations.

Supervision & Consultation
Throughout my career, I have remained deeply invested in the development of the profession itself. I have focused on training, supervising, and mentoring clinicians working toward licensure. I am also available to facilitate consultation groups for licensed therapists and provide case consultation to other mental health professionals. In addition, I present workshops nationally and internationally on trauma treatment, group therapy, and other aspects of clinical practice.

Play & Sand Tray Therapy
In addition to traditional talk therapy, I am extensively trained in Play Therapy and Sand Tray Therapy. These modalities allow for meaningful expression and processing, particularly for children and for individuals whose experiences are not easily accessed through words alone.

Professional Leadership and Memberships
Beyond direct clinical work, I have served in leadership roles within nonprofit mental health organizations my entire career, contributing to program development, fiscal oversight, board membership, and grant review. From 2019–2022, I was appointed by the Governor of Georgia to the Georgia Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage and Family Therapists, serving as Chairperson during my final year.
